Castle Peak Veterinary Service Staff

Julie Hunter-Alt, DVM

Julie is a graduate of Colorado College. She received her veterinary degree from University of California at Davis. After graduating from veterinary school, Julie moved to Eagle and opened Casle Peak Veterinary Service in 1986. While she has extensive experience in all aspects of general veterinary medicine, her primary areas of interest are in internal medicine and soft tissue surgery.

Julie is devoted athlete, who enjoys playing and coaching hockey, telemark skiing and horseback riding. She is also a black-belt in karate and is active in her local dojo. She lives in Eagle with her husband, two sons and numerous pets.

Denny Simonton, DVM
After graduating from Battle Mountain High School, Denny attended Colorado State University to complete his undergraduate and veterinary degrees. After practicing both large and small animal medicine in Eagle, Idaho and Parker, Colorado, Denny returned to the Eagle Valley. He joined Dr. Hunter-Alt as a partner and co-owner at Castle Peak Veterinary Service in 1989. His medical interests include internal medicine, soft-tissue surgery, orthopedics- including surgical repair of anterior cruciate ligament injuries- and cancer chemotherapy. He is a member of the Veterinary Cancer Society.

Denny enjoys fishing, telemark skiing, golf and hiking with his family. He lives in Eagle with his wife and three sons, two cats and two dogs.

Steve Conlin, DVM
Steve attended the University of Montana and received his veterinary degree at Colorado State University. He joined Castle Peak Veterinary Service in 1994. Steve’s medical interests include internal medicine, soft-tissue surgery and orthopedics, including surgical repair of anterior cruciate ligament injuries. He also has a special interest in the care of hunting dogs. He coordinates the Chronic Wasting Disease testing program for deer and elk at Castle Peak, which is the only approved testing center in Eagle County.

On weekends, Steve can be found mountain biking, telemark skiing and kayaking. He and his family live in Eagle.

Niles Thomason, DVM
Niles joined Castle Peak Veterinary Service in 2007 after graduating from Oklahoma State University with his under-graduate and veterinary degrees. He has been a valuable addition to our staff with excellent skills in surgery, medicine and dentistry. 

Niles’ recreational pursuits include snowboarding, hiking and concert-going. He lives in Eagle with his wife, Tiffany, who is a local school teacher and thier two cats, two dogs, and guinea pig.

Alice and Lidia take care of your critters when they board with us.

Marie keeps everyone in line and can be seen working all over the hospital.
